Beat Saber is by far the most played VR game, but how many of you start playing new songs after a while? Don’t worry, just follow this tutorial and you can customise your song library.
But before you get started, you also need to understand the possible consequences of modifying Beat Saber
1, the original data will be lost, such as personal data, leaderboards, etc., such as the need to retain must be backed up first, here I say how to backup!
2, Multiplayer will be disabled, which means you can only play single player.
If you can accept this, please read on.
I. Preparations
1、First of all, make sure your quest device is turned on developer mode, and SideQuest software is installed on your PC, if not, please see my previous “Tutorial for installing third-party APP on Quest VR”, the link I will put below
2、Secondly, you need to have purchased or installed the Beat Saber game on Quest and have it working at least once.
3、Backup the Beat Saber data on Quest (you can skip it if you don’t need it)
How to Backup Data
Open SideQuest on your PC and connect your Quest VR device.
When the prompts in the upper left corner of the SideQuest window are normal, click on the icon in the upper right 9-point box.
Find the Beat Saber line and click on the gear icon on the right.
Click “force close” in the popup window to close Beat Saber completely.
After exiting, click on the folder icon in the top right corner and open the “Android-data-Beat Saber-files” folder.
Follow the video instructions to copy those 2 files to your computer, if you want to restore, just restore the backup files to the corresponding folder.
Download and install bmbf.
I. Open the website https://bmbf.dev/stable
1.Download the corresponding version of BMBF APP according to the version of Beat Saber installed in your Quest, if the version is not correct, the conversion will fail.
2.use SideQuest to install BMBF into Quest
After it shows successful installation, open the TV app in Quest. You can see BMBF, or you can run BMBF in unknown source application.
Run BMBF and click the red button when prompted.
Tap Uninstall Beat Saber, tap OK to uninstall the current Beat Saber.
Click Patch Beat Saber and BMBF will re-download and install the modified version.
Click Install.
Wait patiently for the installation to complete.
Instead of clicking OPEN, click DONE to open BMBF.
When you see this screen, it means you have successfully installed BMBF.
Now you can open bsaber.com to download third party songs.
Tap this remote download icon to download songs to your device.
Finally, tap the top right corner to sync the songs.
Uploading songs via computer
Run bmbf in quest and note down the ip address and port number displayed in the upper right corner.
Don’t close bmbf, enter the address and port number into your computer’s browser address.
Enter to open it.
On the UPLOAD page, drag the zip file of the song you want to upload into the box.
Pay attention to the message in the bottom right corner of your browser
A green tick means the upload was successful
Finally, remember to click the sync button in the upper right corner to sync to your device.
Open the Custom page under Beat Saber games.
You will find the song you just uploaded
